Eleuthera / Harbour Island


  • Eleuthera comes from the Greek word for freedom: The first settlers were 17th century English Puritans who were fleeing religious persecution and who became stranded on Eleuthera. In fact they were the first settlers on the Bahamas.
  • Today, celebrities who appreciate the peace and seclusion of the island chill out here. Lenny Kravitz has even dedicated a song to the place.
  • The island is also famous for its pink sand and long dreamy beaches.
